Jennifer Aniston

Reasons why I love her style and think she's a fashion icon:
- I love her seemingly effortless style
- I love how she always pulls off a casual sort of comfortable way of dressing while still being chic
- She has GREAT hair
- She has beautiful eyes and a FABULOUS body
- She has a touch of that throwback style that both Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn had - that no nonsense way of dressing, while still managing to look stunning
- She doesn't need or wear a lot of makeup - she seems to be a natural beauty
- She seems like a very witty and classy lady
- When I think about style and grace, I always think of Jennifer Aniston
And there ya have it folks!

Summer Hats

So, I went to Orange County last week to visit one of my best friends and came home with a giant floppy hat similar to the one shown here. I love it! I love that these hats are considered fashionable and also that they give you some extra, much needed protection from the sun. Be careful if you purchase one, though. It's difficult to see to the left or right of yourself, so if you're in a crowd, you may bump into someone...like I did! LOL! I thought the guy I ran into was gonna kick my a**! He gave me the stink eye. But what do I care? I was lookin cute in my hat!

Jacqueline Kennedy

I love Jackie O! She was so classy. She faced things in her life that were unimaginable to deal with, yet she remained a dignified lady. She knew how to handle herself and her children as well. She was loved by people around the world. And, she is one of my style icons. I particularly love her trend of the big black sunglasses she used to sport. I too am a fan of big, black sunglasses and have often been teased for wearing my Jackie O. glasses out and about. I don't care! Make fun if you will. I still love the style!

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was also famous for the following:
Chanel jackets - Who doesn't love Chanel? And those fitted jackets that Jackie loved to wear are so flattering. I love a good jacket.
A-line skirts - Another flattering look. These are great for work.
Single-color schemes - Very smart. I particularly like Black, Beige, and Grey. Sometimes just keeping it simple is a good idea. It's classy.
Boat and V-necks - Both good choices paired with either jeans or a nice pair of slacks.
Black turtlenecks - So smart and so chic. I love to wear black turtlenecks. They are slimming and look great with so many things.
Big oversized sunglasses - One of my favorite things she donned.
Black-and white combo - Can't go wrong with this. Jackie preferred white (pants or skirt) on the bottom, black sweater, blouse, or shirt on the top - she felt the other way around gave you a "waiter look." Very interesting, huh? I also find it quite interesting that I didn't know this fact until I did the research for this post, but I have a similar philosophy. In fact, some of my engagement photos picture me wearing white linen pants with a black turtle neck. Who knew I was channeling Jackie all this time?!?

P.S. I love the picture of Jackie with her husband and her kids. She looks so happy. She also looks perfectly fabulous and stylish in her role as a wife and mother.

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn was one of the biggest style icons of our time. She was elegant and beautiful and known for keeping it simple. She was known for wearing the ever popular little black dress and pairing it with statement jewelry. She was also famous for wearing capri pants and ballet flats. She actually liked to wear ballet flats with most anything - think dresses, skirts, pants, etc.
She loved feminine clothes, but she also knew how to pull off the men’s inspired look flawlessly as well. She could pull off short hair, full skirts, cinched waists and men’s inspired button-down shirts.
I love LBDs, jewelry, capri pants, flats, fitted button down white collared shirts, dresses, and a cinched waist band. If you see me at work, you'll often see me wearing one of these items or a combination of them.
I would like to add that Audrey had great hair. She looked great with either long hair or a short cut. And, even though she had great hair, she also looked amazing in hats, which she often wore. And these are all the reasons why I love Audrey Hepburn and look to her for style ideas. She is classic!

My Fashion Icons...

are as follows: (Top 10...in no particular order)
- Audrey Hepburn
- Jackie O.
- Jennifer Aniston
- Sarah Jessica Parker/Carrie Bradshaw (this one's a tie...even though it's really 2 separate people...well, kinda...considering that Carrie Bradshaw is a fictional character, but still!)
- Cameron Diaz
- Carrie Underwood
- Faith Hill
- Lauren Conrad
- Reese Witherspoon
- Cindy Crawford

And there you have it! I know it's a bit of a random or eclectic list, if you will, but it's what I like and who I watch for my style ideas and inspiration. I like classic chic, comfortable, elegant, airy, unique, and sometimes vintage styles. Be watching for upcoming posts that will discuss the reasons why I chose this list of ladies as my style icons.

P.S. Thought this was a good place to start for this blog. I figured it would give you an idea of what kind of girl I am and what my style is. Plus, I thought maybe my readers could leave me some comments detailing what they think and who their fashion icons are, too!
Happy reading,
